THE NEED
Poverty is a ubiquitous throughout India. About half of families struggle to afford the most basic of foods, clothing, and housing on only $1.25 per day (UN data). The price of food and goods continue to rise.
OUR RESPONSE
The Jabulpur Women’s Skill Center provides training to poor women who need a job skill to be able to supplement their family’s low income. A mix of about 45 married and unmarried women of various backgrounds attend. The center’s instructor, Mrs. Sam, offers three-month and one-year courses.
Mrs. Sam begins the day with prayers and scripture reading. Once per week a special evangelist comes to have a Bible study at the center. The Mission provides for supplies, rent of facility, electricity, and salary of Mrs. Sam each month, as well as transportation for project oversight by Vivek.
